My name is Ann, and I am the owner and primary photographer for Ideal Portraits. As a teenager, I had always had an interest in photography, but I lived in a small town with little opportunity in the field. We had one primary photographer that did just about everything in the area, and nobody really questioned it. I took a couple classes in art photography and film development, but didn't get to focus on it much. When I started college for vocal music performance and acting, I was employed by Sam Goody where I learned about what real customer service is meant to be and going the extra mile to help someone. Unfortunately the company bankrupted, and I had to find a new line of work.I soon started work in a photography studio in town. They trained me well, and I appreciated learning everything on the job (and occasionally in a classroom type setting). Every day my customers taught me just as much about what they want as the job was teaching me on the technical end of things. I realized I had a passion for photography that I had never known before, and I soaked up everything I could learn. I worked there for two year and moved up into management. Eventually I started at a different studio and took the general manager position. I loved running a studio, but there were so many corporate guidelines and expectations that I wasn't happy with. It was all about the bottom line - making money - and it felt to me like they were taking the wrong approach if they wanted happy customers. So with three long years of living in the camera room under my belt, I dared to branch away from those places to try things differently. My Promise & Why I'm HereMy passion is the photography and doing things the right way. I want you to look even more amazing than you feel. As long as I can get by, I don't need this to get rich. My goal is to be honest about the whole process. I believe in simplicity ~ no extra fees or making prices $1.99 instead of $2.00. I believe in taking your time in the session to capture everything you want, no rushing. In the same respect, I don't feel that you should be pushed to do more poses than you know you need, and you shouldn't have to get the same pictures every time. I strive every day to learn the new styles and perfect the old ones. There is so much that I want to do for you to make your session work the way you want, and I promise to try as hard as I can to deliver on these ideals ~ henceforth,Ideal Portraits. Unique. Affordable. Friendly.
